Wavyleaf thistle, Cirsium undulatum
Wavyleaf or pasture thistle, Cirsium undulatum. Unlike many of our native thistles, this is a stoloniferous, clump-forming, perennial species. This thistle plant is covered with a fine white tomentum, imparting a gray or silver color to the foliage. The flowers can vary from pale lavendar-pink to white. It occurs from the Plains States and TX west to eastern AZ. Photo taken Dallas Co., TX.
