
VaxSyn, Experimental HIV Vaccine
Bottle of VaxSyn HIV-1, manufactured by MicroGeneSys, Inc. This was the first vaccine against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) to be cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for clinical trials in human beings, in 1987. The vaccine contained a recombinant form of the HIV envelope protein gp 160. To date, there are still no effective vaccines against HIV.
