The King's Palace at Kew, 1805
Coloured engraving of the Castellated Palace at Kew. In 1800, King George III (1760-1820) commissioned the architect James Wyatt to create a great Gothic palace at Kew. However, the King's ill health meant the Castellated Palace remained an incomplete folly and was never used. It was demolished by King George IV (1820-30)
