
Space Shuttle Columbia
With workstands pulled back, the Space Shuttle Columbia awaits the beginning of its tow to the Vehicle Assembly Building, where it will be mated to the solid rocket boosters and external tank already stacked for the STS-2 flight. Columbia spent a little over three months in the Orbiter Processing Facility undergoing refurbishment after its initial voyage into space. STS-2 was the second NASA Space Shuttle Mission, and the second flight of the Columbia, launching on November 12, 1981 and landing November 14.Kennedy Space Center, Florida, August 10, 1981.
