Snow being removed from a railway track, 1895
Railway workers shovelling snow from a railway track at Altnabreac, Highlands, 8 March, 1895. The track is buried in snowdrifts up to 15 metres high and so the train is unable to pass along the track safely. Some trains on the Highland Railway used snowploughs because of the weather conditions in Northern Scotland during the winter months.
