Rough harvester ant, Pogonomyrmex rugosus, scale: 2x life size (at 24 x 36 mm). Harvester ants are found worldwide, and are widespread across the desert Southwest. They live in arid and semiarid areas and feed on seeds and plant materials. The seeds are collected and stored in the nest. They in turnare preyed upon by other insects such as horned lizards.
