Microscopic hairs covering the drupelets of the red raspberry. This is a scanning electron micrograph showing the epidermal hair entanglement on the surface of a red raspberry drupelet. The red raspberry is known to harbor various strains of parasites, i.e. Cylospora, and bacteria known to cause foodborne illnesses on its textured, bristly surface, and must be washed quite thoroughly before ingesting.
