Motorcycle race, Oulton Park, Cheshire, September 1970.
‘Giacomo Agostini, Italy’s unbeatable world motorcycle champion, has decided to compete in car racing next season. He revealed this after two effortless victories on his powerful three-cylinder MVs in the Daily Express-sponsored international meeting at Oulton Park. Said eight-times world champion Ago: “I cannot ignore the challenge of cars any longer. So next season I will definitely attack four wheels. I’ve had good offers from car teams in both Italy and England. I shall ask Count Agusta, the president of MV, for permission to race in both sports.”’
