Memorial to Major Charles Strafford MBE, Ranville
After the war a number of veterans returned to Normandy to live and one of the most notable was Charles Strafford. He became very involved in the Commemorations associated with D-Day and the subsequent memorials and their upkeep. This plaque was placed by the villagers of Ranville amongst whom Charles was well known. As a former member of HQ 6th Airborne Brigiade, he was frequently visited by VIPs who were not unattracted by the fine wine cellar that he had at home.
