McMichael model 512R 12 " television receiver, c 1951.
A McMichael model 512R 12" television receiver, from about 1951. It cost £109-6-11 tax paid when new. This receiver was designed to look more like a piece of furniture than a television set. It had doors that closed across the screen when it was not being watched, so that it blended in with its surroundings. It also has legs like a ‘Queen Anne’ chair, which gives it a slightly strange appearance.
