Larry Rivers Painting with Son, Lincoln Square

Larry Rivers and his son paint a billboard for the first New York Film Festival in Manhattan's Lincoln Square, 1963. Rivers, born Yitzrok Loiza Grossberg, began as a jazz saxophonist and was a contemporary and friend of Miles Davis. As a painter, he produced pop art that bordered on the abstract and became one of America's most important postwar artists. Born 1923, died 2002.
