Hosta Pollen

Pollen of green-leaf hosta plants. Hostas (members of the lily family) are hardy perennials native to Japan, Korea and China, easy to grow and to care for. Thus, they are very popular in North America and elsewhere in the world. These ornamental plants thrive in shade and partial shade, and best of all, they get better with age. Each season, hosta clumps get larger and margins on variegated leaves become wider, and the coloring becomes more intense each subsequent season, especially in blue or gold-toned cultivars. Enhanced SEM. Image width: 107 micrometers. Magnification: 935x if the image is printed 10 cm wide.
