GALLAHER GROUP PLC PRELIMINARY RESULTS

NIGEL NORTHRIDGE Chief executive of Gallaher Group plc at the annoucement of their Preliminary end of year Results for 2005. Salters Hall, London Chief executive Nigel Northridge said Gallaher Group PLC, Britain's third-biggest tobacco firm, revealed a 6.6 pct rise in annual profits The maker of Benson & Hedges and Silk Cut cigarettes posted pretax profit before exceptionals of 570 mln stg against 534 mln last time, in line with forecasts. Adjusted earnings advanced 7.5 pct to 63.1 pence, and the group hiked its total dividend for the year to 33.5 pence, a 6.3 pct increase.
