Fer-de-Lance
Fer-de-Lance, or Terciopelo (Bothrops asper) in lowland primary tropical rainforest, near Chilamate, Costa Rica. The Fer-de-Lance is a venemous pit viper. Its cryptic coloration makes it well camouflaged for the rainforest floor. It strikes readily when disturbed, and its bite can be fatal.
