ENDOMETRIUM THERMOCAUTERY
Endometrial balloon thermocoagulation. Illustration of the endometrial balloon thermocoagulation procedure: a balloon catheter is inflated in the uterus, causing pressure and emitting heat which destroys the endometrial surface to a thickness of 4 to 8 mm, thus putting an end to uterine bleeding. This procedure makes it possible to avoid performing a hysterectomy in women suffering from excessive uterine bleeding.
