Cranial Vascular Malformation

This axial (cross sectional) T2 weighted MRI through the posterior fossa of the pons demonstrates a cavernous malformation. These are slow flow type vascular malformations which in the past were called occult vascular malformation (OCVM) because they generally are not seen on conventional cerebral angiography. These consist of dilated capillaries without intervening brain parenchyma.
