Bill Owen, (left), starred in the popular TV series ‘Last of the Summer Wine’, and Clive Dunn, (right), played Corporal Jones in ‘Dad’s Army’. Kinnock (born 1942) became Labour leader in 1983. In 1992 John Major was elected Conservative Prime Minister and Kinnock resigned as party leader after his election defeat. He remained an MP until 1995, and then became European commissioner for transport. He joined the board of Britain in Europe in September 2004, and later that year was chosen as head of the British Council. In 2005 he was granted a peerage and was created Baron Kinnock, of Bedwellty in the County of Gwent.
