13th/18th Hussars Memorial, la Breche d'Hermanville
The Regiment was equipped with 'Flail' tanks which acted as giant carpet sweepers, having at the front huge rotating steel chains as brushes. They landed on D-Day in support of the East Yorks with the task of clearing the beaches of mines. Because the Regiment's tanks were shared between various infantry units there are a number of Memorials around Normandy.
